Internship

CleanSlate UV is a biosafety company introducing the next generation of intelligent sanitization solutions, especially focusing on disinfecting dangerous bacteria and viruses on personal digital devices, such as cell-phones, smart watches, smart pads and etc, without damaging them.

The company’s main product “CleanSlate UV” is operated by leveraging the power of UV-C light. The light deactivates harmful bacteria and viruses by disrupting their basic structure of DNA and RNA.

As a design intern enrolled in product manage team, I had an opportunity of  performing my ability though participatingin one of the projects, which was to reform a previous signage plate and a stand into a newconcept of station promoting the company and the main product, CleanslateUV.

WEEK1 - Initial Approach / Ideation sketch

After conducting research andexploring the product model, existing signage stands, essential factors, andpain points, I set an initial design brief that suggests a proper develop direction.

With considering set design brief, I sketched some basic forms and tried to visualize the concept. The inceptive concept was to design a kiosk/booth type model that is align to the device and secure enough space to integrate with a hand sanitizer, the model instructions and the company identity.

WEEK2 - Concept Development

In week2, based on betterunderstanding of all the necessary components, I focused on a form development andrefining some of the initial sketches.

WEEK3 - Concept Development / First Model Rendering

After discussing variations with company partners and refining a concept model, I conducted 3D rendering in order to view the model and its details from better perspective.

WEEK4 - Concept Refinement

Although the first model addresses the existing pain points and does correspond to the design brief, it still entails several issues including manufacturing cost regarding applied materials, the complicated form, and the package. To resolve the problems, me and my partners came up with ideas of applying different materials and methods to both floor stand and back plate, using existing model with thin acrylic plates and the fabric tension display.

WEEK5 - Signage Design

With resources from the company, I integrated essential graphics on the final model.

WEEK6 - Final Model / Package Plan

After a few modification of the graphics in order to articulate them more effective and aesthetically pleasing, the final model was born. Since the model is consisted of linear and flat components and it can be disassembled and organized in a package easily.
